Technique Tip of the month ... Trapezius Lift

Start in a standing position with your feet shoulder width apart, weights in hands, palms facing front, and thumbs pointing out.
Shrug your shoulders upward toward your ears by contracting the trapezius muscles in your neck and shoulders.
Keep your chest lifted and your upper body still. The only part of your body that should move is your shoulders.
Maintain a neutral spine and avoid arching your back.
Release the contraction in your trapezius muscles to return your shoulders to their starting position.
Performing this exercise on a regular basis will help develop the muscles in and around your neck. Well defined trapezius muscles create an athletic slope to your shoulders.
